Transformation on the table at public service discussions
The Improvement Service and Audit Scotland hosted a round table on transformational change in January, with public service and third sector leaders, policy makers and partners attending to speak about their experiences.
Societal changes, reducing resources and Scottish Government reforms are creating pressure for transformational change across public services to improve outcomes, support the shift towards prevention and involve citizens more in the important decisions that affect their lives.
Councils, health boards, Integration Joint Boards (IJBs) and their community planning partners are working with the third sector, private sector and communities in various programmes of change. However, we keep hearing that the pace of change and scale of transformation needs to increase to keep up with the increasingly complex challenges.
Whilst there is no single approach to change, there are common themes and these were under discussion at the round table: leadership, culture, delivering community empowerment, partnership working, and digital opportunities.
