Commission meetings
The Accounts Commission meets in public, and usually holds meetings once a month except in July. You can find dates of upcoming meetings on this page.
Watching a meeting
You are welcome to observe the public session of Commission meetings, either in person or online. Our meetings are usually held at the Audit Scotland office in Edinburgh, but we occasionally hold meetings online or at the Glasgow office.
Our next meeting is on Thursday 15 May – a link to register will appear here approximately one week before the meeting.
You don’t have to attend for the whole meeting – you can join and leave at any time. We ask visitors to respect the conduct of business and not cause any disruption – anyone attending is there to observe and not to participate. When joining online, your camera and microphone will be switched off.
Last meeting: 10 April 2025
We also record the public session of each Commission meeting. You can watch the most recent available recording here, and find recordings of earlier meetings on YouTube.
If you require further information or assistance, please email ACSupport@audit-scotland.gov.uk.
Format of meetings
The purpose of our meetings is to discuss and debate issues relating to local government finances and services. We consider statutory reports on individual councils, as well as draft overview reports on local government finances or performance audit reports on how particular local services are delivered across Scotland.
Our role is to work on your behalf to hold local government to account and help it improve, and we’re committed to being as transparent as possible. Some of our business is conducted in public, but for certain agenda items, discussion takes place in private.
Where an item is to be considered in private, the meeting agenda provides the reason for this. It may be to enable conversations with audit teams about their work, or to discuss matters that are sensitive or involve information that is not in the public domain.
For almost all items, the minutes of our meetings clearly describe what was discussed, including agreed actions and decisions – previous meeting papers and minutes are available below.
Next meeting: 15 May 2025
Papers will usually appear here at least three days before the meeting date.
