Audit Scotland's first Modern Apprentice
A former St Mungo's Academy pupil has become Audit Scotland's first Modern Apprentice.
Jacqueline Anderson, 18, was recruited by Audit Scotland via the Commonwealth Apprentice Initiative, which supports organisations to advertise vacancies, match to suitable applicants and helps apprentices with gaining qualifications.
The Modern Apprenticeships scheme operates through Skills Development Scotland and helps young people get on the career ladder, and gain valuable workplace experience, whilst studying for an SVQ.
Jacqueline has joined Audit Scotland’s Business Support Services team, which provides key administrative and front of house support for all of the organisation’s departments and locations.
Speaking about her time with Audit Scotland so far, Jacqueline said: "I left school in the summer with Highers in English, business and admin. While many of my friends went to university, I decided to look for full-time work. Having signed up to the Commonwealth Apprentice scheme, I was given support to look for a suitable scheme.
"I'm really keen to make the most of this opportunity. I've been involved in lots of business support work, from organising meetings to raising purchase orders and ordering stationery. There’s a lot of information to take in, and I’m learning so much."
Lynn Scott, Business Support Manager, said: "Jacqueline joined us in September and has already made a great start. She is making a positive impact in the Glasgow office, as well as spending time in our Edinburgh bases to learn about the diverse work Audit Scotland is involved in. We’re delighted to have her on the team."
Audit Scotland reported in March 2014 on the progress of the Modern Apprenticeships scheme. Find out more here:
