Future work programme refreshed
Following their annual review of future work plans, Audit Scotland, the Accounts Commission and the Auditor General have set out what areas of public spending and policy they plan to report on over the next five years.
The work of Scotland’s independent public spending watchdogs spans the entire public sector, and has to evolve and respond to developments within the complex landscape of public finances. To ensure public audit remains timely and of value to the people who deliver and use public services in Scotland, Audit Scotland annually reviews its future work plans on behalf of the Accounts Commission and Auditor General to capture key changes in public spending and policy, and consultation with key stakeholders.
This has led to an audit focus on areas such as digital, health and social care integration, Scotland’s new financial powers and Best Value in councils, to name just a few.
